On June 25th The New Work Network came together thanks to support from Havas UK for a second session on equipping people with the resources and advice to successfully negotiate and navigate flexible working arrangements.
Our guests were treated to a stellar panel discussion featuring Xavier Rees, CEO of Havas London and Havas Helia, Nikki Cochrane, Co-Founder of Digital Mums, Matt Dawson, ex-England Rugby player and CEO of The Instant Group, Michelle McGrath Co-CEO of Brand Learning (an Accenture company) - picking up on a topic in the launch event, which brought up the idea of making flexibility reason agnostic, the panel discussed ways in which to make that happen.
Attendees then broke into three discussion groups, each chaired by flexibility experts: Virginia Herlihy, CEO of How Do You Do It, tackled the topic of making the case to your boss, Matthew Knight, founder of Leapers Community showed how using self-discovery tool The Manual Of Me helps people discover how they work best; then Daniele Fiandaca, co-founder of Utopia and Token Man dealt with the barriers to people asking for flexibility - such as perception of flexible workers, the need for proof it will work, and the ever-present issue of trust.
The evening concluded with attendees reflecting on the one Accelerator they were taking away, with 4 key themes emerging:
